The situation at Tesla these days is far from quiet, despite the milestone reached in 2018, having achieved record profits in the third quarter, after years of registering losses. Tesla has announced that it will lay off 7% of its workers, in a new clip template that is in addition to the dismissal of the 9% that already started in June last year.
Tesla cut its workforce by 7%
Although Tesla has not officially released how many employees work for the brand, a tweet from Elon Musk in October, spoke of a figure in the environment of the 45,000 workers. That would imply that this new dismissal will affect to 3,150 jobs. See news item in Automotive News. The workforce reduction will focus on permanent workers and full-time, keeping the jobs in charge of critical tasks.
The manufacturer of electric cars are seeking to improve your profitability, while at the same time that they will need to increase the production of their cars. In the email signed by Elon Musk who have received the employees justified the measure saying that “Tesla will need to make these cuts and at the same time increase the production of the Tesla Model 3, making numerous improvements in the production lines in the coming months.”
Tesla is focusing, above all, in the manufacture of the versions more affordable Tesla Model 3, and in increasing the volume of production for the economy of scale to facilitate the sale of those versions advertised prices initially, and remain viable. The most affordable price for a Tesla Model 3, in the united States, should be maintained below 35,000 dollars. In fact, the more affordable version in these times it costs exactly 33.950 dollars.
Elon Musk also announces in this latest press release that Tesla would have scored benefits, again, in the last quarter of last year, although it would be lower than that announced in the third quarter of 2018.
