As every year for these dates, we prepare to learn of a new prototype of Skoda. A prototype very special, because it involves a team of students that participates in the training programs of the brand in Mlada Boleslav. Today as we leave doubts, and we know that the trademark Skoda Mountiaq, that we discovered recently in the european register, it should be used for this prototype. The Skoda Mountiaq will be, therefore, a prototype of a pick-up, based on the Kodiaq.
Skoda Mountiaq: a pick-up with the base of the Kodiaq
In march, Skoda we anticipated some sketches, confirming that the prototype of this year would be a transformation in the pick-up of the Skoda Kodiaq. We know that in its development and construction have contributed to 35 students, who have dedicated more than 2,000 hours of work.
Although the photographs you have shown to us yet do not reveal too much, who tells us that Skoda promises. And we have to search you out that, without a doubt, we are eager to see the result.
The prototype developed by the students of Skoda this year is a version pick-up Kodiaq, which has received the name Skoda Mountiaq
Skoda anticipates that the Mountiaq will be decorated with a paint finish orange, will have a cargo space open in the rear, – type tub, like a pick-up, preparation and off-road, that will include wheels 17″ with tires purely off-road, and the engine 2.0 TSI of 190 BHP of power.
We are probably in front of one of the prototypes that are more complex that has developed the program of training of Skoda. In the past, we saw a Citigo convertible, a Citigo buggy, a Spaceback Coupe, and even a Karoq cabrio. The biggest challenge of the Skoda Mountiaq would have passed by strengthen the body, remove the roof, to integrate a bezel later, and even shorten the front doors, to fit into a design-type pick-up two doors.
It seems that Skoda is planning to launch a pick-up derived from the MQB platform, and the Kodiaq. But the idea is not much less far-fetched. Especially if we take into account that the Volkswagen Group is taking advantage of this platform to launch some of the SUV niche, as the convertible version of the Volkswagen T-Roc, which will arrive next year, or even an SUV transformed into a pick-up, which has all the ballots to arrive at Volkswagen dealerships in the united States.
