Writing.- The Madrid city Council in line with its commitment to sustainable mobility, bet once more for the truck IVECO Stralis powered by natural gas with the acquisition of 36 new units for its fleet of waste collection in urban areas. This model is exclusively produced in the factory IVECO in Madrid, the only plant in Spain that produces heavy industrial vehicles.
The model Stralis presented the Cursor 8 engine fuelled by CNG with a power of 330 horses and automatic gearbox with retarder integrated. It has eight CNG tanks with a total capacity of 640 litres. In addition, it is equipped with the latest security technology and has been manufactured in accordance with the needs of the client.
The engine is between 50% and 75% quieter than their diesel version, Euro VI, which means that a Stralis natural gas reduces the acoustic emissions of between 3 and 6 decibels, which makes it perfect for driving in urban centers during the evening hours.
Currently, there are 73 stations for public refueling CNG and 46 for LNG in Spain, making it the european country with more LNG facilities, with a further 66 sites of CNG and LNG under construction.
“This is a clear example of the commitment that the big cities have to contribute each day to their environmental quality. Our natural gas vehicles, after more than 20 years of experience in their development, respond to the environmental needs that require capitals, like Madrid, ”said Ruggero Mughini, General Manager of IVECO for Spain and Portugal.
To analyze this scenario as extremely positive for the natural gas and sustainable mobility, and to evaluate the latest technological developments in alternative fuels, AltFuels Iberia 2020 will be held from 5 to 9 October at the IFEMA exhibition centre in Madrid.
